Simple Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas & Inspiration

It's November, and I was ready for a change....so over the weekend I got my table decorated for Thanksgiving, and I took away the traditional colors of autumn in the living room and dining room and I added earthy warm colors in a mix of browns, tans, and creams... (I kept the sitting room in the reds and oranges though),... I'm keeping it simple this year...I wanted it to look simple, elegant, calm and relaxing....here's how everything is looking right now....

The kitties helped and supervised much of the decorating, and as you can imagine there was not a dull moment around here, lol!

Thanks for visiting with me today!

Until next time...

Woodland Tea for Two with a Touch of Romance

Today I fixed up a special little tea for two for my husband and myself....I snapped a few photos to share of how I've decorated things.

It's a woodland theme with a touch of romance....

I love slowing down and sitting with a good cup of tea.... with some pretty books to look through, and some magazines...it's even better now that temperatures have cooled off and fall is finally here.....

These coasters looked like fall to me, so I set them out to use....they're made from paper cardboard and were free yard sale finds! I've seen this artist's work before, but they aren't by Thomas Kinkade....do you happen to know who the artist might be?

I borrowed the vintage squirrel stein and the vintage avon amber glass quail bottle from our office...they were some of my husband's junkin' finds from several years ago, (he keeps his handsome collections on bookshelves in there)...his eyes lit up when he saw them on the tea tray.....

I like using these English brown transferware tea cups this time of year.....they are some of our junkin' finds...I think they add a touch of romance to our "tea for two"...

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that Emma thought you should know that she did help me with decorating the tea tray...
As you can imagine, I get a lot of help from her.
I greatly appreciate it too...she's a little sweetie.....

I hope this post added a little joy to your day, and that it reminds you to take some time to just relax a little while, and do something that makes your heart happy and that brings you joy...whatever that may be.

Until next time...stay creative and cozy! It's that time of the year!

Touches of Halloween for October

I can't believe how fast October is going by. It's been about to slip away, but just for the fun of it, I had to add some whimsical Halloween decor to our home.... for October....and for memories sake.

Our sons are grown with wives and children of their own, but Halloween was always a fun time around here when they were little, and trick or treat was always part of their Halloweens. My husband and I went trick or treating when we were kids too.... it was house to house in neighborhoods, and bags filled with candy of a large variety....so I always like to bring out some fun things this time of the year related to Halloween. Do you do any decorating for Halloween?

Of course, my sweet George wanted to help me decorate with pillows, but after pulling them out, he's not sure which ones he likes best.....

But I think he's decided on these and he's gonna call it a day....

The vintage Disneyland record was a recent $1 estate sale find....with it being so close to Halloween, I couldn't pass it up....

I also couldn't resist adding this old Halloween photograph that was taken in 1970, of my husband, when he was 3 years old.... he was getting ready to go trick or treating to get candy, with his brother and sister, (he's the little one in the photo)....

It's Priceless.....

It was time for Emma's nap, she was tired because she'd been helping me with another of my upcoming posts....but she told me to tell you hello....

I added a few ceramic jack-0-lanterns to the front porch.  I've had these for several years, they were $3 finds, for all 3, at a thrift shop. I turn them around to the plain side and use them after Halloween too.

On the mini-home front (the dollhouse)...I finished painting the mini pumpkins that I made from clay...

And the apples I ordered were out of stock, so I may make some....or wait until apples are out of season for dollhouses, and then order some, later on....I'll have some for next year maybe...lol!

I have been wanting to make some curtains for the dollhouse soon, hopefully I will this winter. It shouldn't be too hard to do with lace or gingham ribbon.....

The vintage inspired sign is from Dollar Tree and I think I picked it up last season, or the season before.

Well, that's how things are looking right now for October. I'll change it up a little bit again in November, and add a few pilgrims, and turkeys. I want to simplify things more at the beginning of November to make it easier when I begin decorating for the upcoming Christmas season. It will be here before we know it. I am looking forward to it!

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time....
Stay creative and have a beautiful day!
