Woodland Tea for Two with a Touch of Romance

Today I fixed up a special little tea for two for my husband and myself....I snapped a few photos to share of how I've decorated things.

It's a woodland theme with a touch of romance....

I love slowing down and sitting with a good cup of tea.... with some pretty books to look through, and some magazines...it's even better now that temperatures have cooled off and fall is finally here.....

These coasters looked like fall to me, so I set them out to use....they're made from paper cardboard and were free yard sale finds! I've seen this artist's work before, but they aren't by Thomas Kinkade....do you happen to know who the artist might be?

I borrowed the vintage squirrel stein and the vintage avon amber glass quail bottle from our office...they were some of my husband's junkin' finds from several years ago, (he keeps his handsome collections on bookshelves in there)...his eyes lit up when he saw them on the tea tray.....

I like using these English brown transferware tea cups this time of year.....they are some of our junkin' finds...I think they add a touch of romance to our "tea for two"...

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that Emma thought you should know that she did help me with decorating the tea tray...
As you can imagine, I get a lot of help from her.
I greatly appreciate it too...she's a little sweetie.....

I hope this post added a little joy to your day, and that it reminds you to take some time to just relax a little while, and do something that makes your heart happy and that brings you joy...whatever that may be.

Until next time...stay creative and cozy! It's that time of the year!

Touches of Halloween for October

I can't believe how fast October is going by. It's been about to slip away, but just for the fun of it, I had to add some whimsical Halloween decor to our home.... for October....and for memories sake.

Our sons are grown with wives and children of their own, but Halloween was always a fun time around here when they were little, and trick or treat was always part of their Halloweens. My husband and I went trick or treating when we were kids too.... it was house to house in neighborhoods, and bags filled with candy of a large variety....so I always like to bring out some fun things this time of the year related to Halloween. Do you do any decorating for Halloween?

Of course, my sweet George wanted to help me decorate with pillows, but after pulling them out, he's not sure which ones he likes best.....

But I think he's decided on these and he's gonna call it a day....

The vintage Disneyland record was a recent $1 estate sale find....with it being so close to Halloween, I couldn't pass it up....

I also couldn't resist adding this old Halloween photograph that was taken in 1970, of my husband, when he was 3 years old.... he was getting ready to go trick or treating to get candy, with his brother and sister, (he's the little one in the photo)....

It's Priceless.....

It was time for Emma's nap, she was tired because she'd been helping me with another of my upcoming posts....but she told me to tell you hello....

I added a few ceramic jack-0-lanterns to the front porch.  I've had these for several years, they were $3 finds, for all 3, at a thrift shop. I turn them around to the plain side and use them after Halloween too.

On the mini-home front (the dollhouse)...I finished painting the mini pumpkins that I made from clay...

And the apples I ordered were out of stock, so I may make some....or wait until apples are out of season for dollhouses, and then order some, later on....I'll have some for next year maybe...lol!

I have been wanting to make some curtains for the dollhouse soon, hopefully I will this winter. It shouldn't be too hard to do with lace or gingham ribbon.....

The vintage inspired sign is from Dollar Tree and I think I picked it up last season, or the season before.

Well, that's how things are looking right now for October. I'll change it up a little bit again in November, and add a few pilgrims, and turkeys. I want to simplify things more at the beginning of November to make it easier when I begin decorating for the upcoming Christmas season. It will be here before we know it. I am looking forward to it!

Thanks for visiting!

Until next time....
Stay creative and have a beautiful day!

Latest Junkin' Finds from Sept. & Oct. 2023

It's been a beautiful time of the year to get out and about and do some junkin'. I'm a little behind with sharing our latest junkin' finds.... (my hand, wrist, and arm has been giving me some trouble again, and so I've been trying not to use it much), but I wanted to do this post, and push onward....you won't believe the deals and fun things I've found over the last three weeks....

This pretty plate is from a thrift store and is one that my husband found for us, regularly $4 on sale for $1, it was hiding on a very tall plate rack at the top, (he had to get a chair to get it down),....I think someone would have already grabbed it, if it would have been lower and easier to spot...

Here's the backside of the plate...

at that same thrift store, I picked up these 3 books and a magazine, all for $5.25, they were on sale half off that day....

The next week, we just happened upon a yard sale way out in the country, when we were on our way to do some thrifting at a nearby small town.....and y'all aren't going to believe that these nesting tables were only $10 for the set of 3.
I had to clean them up a little bit and I also put some Waverly antique wax on the tops, because one of them was a washed white color and different than the others, but I am lovin' these! I have always wanted some of them!

At this same sale I got this autumn picture for $3

They gave me this pretty old plate....I loved the orange flowers....

and I am using it to hold a candle....

Then at an indoor flea market that same day, my husband found this English plate for $3

I found this cake plate for $2, it's from Bassett Austria

This book was $1

That same day we went to another thrift shop with booths, and I found these albums $1.50 each

This pretty plate  was $2.99, it is going to go perfect with some larger ones that I have that are similar to it, it has a Germany mark on back in green, but it's so faded that it's barely legible....

I got these magazines for $1.25 each but they were half off that day....I can't wait to look at these!

This past Friday we went to an estate sale, I got this vintage Disneyland album for $1,
I picked it up mostly for the cover.... I'm gonna set it in the living room for a Halloween decoration....I only do a touch of Halloween here and there....I don't really do spooky, but this seems like it will be just right, for an October vignette....
My husband found this old necklace to add to my collection, for $1......

I got the cigar box for 50 cents.....
I'm using it for a riser on my living room side table.....

This past Saturday, we found a yard sale sign and followed it.... to find some things....
the tin was .10 cents

I'm using it for a riser for the teacups.....I was determined to set it somewhere.....

I'd been on the hunt for one of these Courier & Ives winter trays....it was only .10 cents....George approves of the price!

This ornament was .25 cents.....
and this outside statue was $10

I couldn't resist it with the girl holding the basket with the two kitties.....

my husband picked up the cute little notepad for .10 cents....

To end our  junkin' adventure, we headed over to a charity thrift shop to see what they had.....

I found these 2 vintage Culver Valencia 22kt. gold gilded glasses for $1 each.....

Emma approves of these.....

I can't wait to use them in a table setting for two, for us empty nesters!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

Until next time.....Happy Junkin'!
