About

Welcome! My name is Christie, I'm a 50 something Christian homemaker and empty nester mama and wife, married to my jr. high school sweetheart for 33 years now, and we have two grown sons, (who are married), and we have three grandchildren and two cats. My husband retired from his career with the State of Florida in December 2020, and since then we've been busier than ever, remodeling our home and enjoying nature and some travel, when we can too. I have always enjoyed homemaking and decorating our home for the seasons and whenever the notion strikes me, and I love a collected over time look in our home. I'm a frugal shopper and I like the challenge of making things look pretty on a budget, the creative process that comes with decorating, and the joy it brings me to home-make, and make things cozy in our home. I think when you decorate with only things that you really love, and that speak to your heart or tell a story, or preserve a precious memory, your home instantly becomes an inviting, welcoming and cozy place to be. I like things that are unique and I am a fan of many styles of decorating, but seem to gravitate toward the Vintage Cottage Style, English Country Cottage, French Country, Southern Traditional, and Shabby Chic Farmhouse Style. But I don't limit myself to any one style. I believe that if you love something, you can always make it work in your home, somewhere. I'm a junkin' girl! Junkin' and the thrill of the hunt has always been fun for me, so a lot of what I use to decorate with in our home has been found secondhand at yard sales, thrift stores, flea markets and antique stores.

This website and my home diary is a place for my homemaking, decorating and junkin' adventures. The photos I post, help me to recall how I decorated things from season to season, too! Sometimes I forget how I did things, and need to refer to some of my pictures, lol!  I hope you will be inspired by visiting our home and by being here, and that you'll find some ideas for your home while you are here.

About Our Home:
Our home is small but cozy, it's 1216 square feet and is a single wide 16 ft. x 80 ft. mobile home, built in 1997, and my husband and myself are the original owners of it. I call it a mobile home, but it actually is not mobile, it's here to stay on our land and won't be transported anywhere, the tires were removed when it was set up on our land, 1.25 acres and it was homesteaded... so it is considered real property, and it is not really mobile anymore. Our home is actually called a manufactured home, technically. I think the terms mobile home and manufactured home, and even trailer, are often used interchangeably, and are all used when referring to our type of home. We are so grateful to God for this place that we call home, and for the memories we've made here, raising our two now grown sons, and sharing family gatherings with the family they've now created, (it's growing)...making memories with them, and the grandchildren, and our other extended family members. So many memories have been made here.

We love the home we have made here, though we do sometimes talk about selling our home, and entertain that idea a lot when the summers get too humid and hot here in Northwest Florida... who knows, we someday might call some place else home. Time will tell. But, we really aren't ready to leave it, just yet and we are blooming where we have been planted, so many years ago. Who knows we may always be right here, (and that's all good too), but one thing I feel will always be true is... this place holds a piece of my heart, and I believe it always will....I will always love this home that my husband and I have cared for together....and for the memories we've made, the dreams we've dreamed here, (even though some have come true and some are still hoped for). I'm thankful for the life we've lived here, and I'm believing that the best is still yet to come. Here's to blooming where we are planted right now, where God has us at, in this season we are in.

Come along with me here on this blog, as I share my mobile home diary.
