Room Makeover Before and After 2021

Early summer 2021, our youngest son got married...so we became empty nesters. His old room was to become my little reading/tv/sitting/extra living room space. Here's a few snapshots of how my little retreat turned out...

(Before photos are at the end of the post)

The craigslist find electric fireplace found it's way over to the other side of the room on the wall by the door....when my extra long buffet, thrift store find,  tv stand needed to be on my longer wall. (above photo taken when I first finished up the room).

My drapes are 2 dropcloths that I folded over and hung with clip-on curtain rings, the pecan colored bamboo shade came from Walmart online.

Drapery Tip:
If your window is on the smaller side, elevate the whole feel of the room by mounting the curtain rod closer to the top of the wall, and framing the window with drapes. Mount the curtain rod out from the sides of your window, I went out from the window 18 inches or so to give the illusion of a wider more substantial window. Of course how many inches you bring your rod out on either side of the window will depend on the length of your wall. The key I think is to balance it.

The paint for the walls is from Lowes, it is Valspar Signature Inerior Paint + Primer in Satin, the color is Light Raffia 3008-10B. The paint for the trim and doors is by Valspar Signature Interior Paint + Primer in Semi-Gloss, the color is Du Jour 7002-6.  The shelf/hutch chest is painted with Valspar Signature Paint+Primer Satin, in the color Organic Garden 6005-6B

Note:
Our home is a 1997 single wide manufactured home/ mobile home, it is what they call extra wide and is 16 feet wide × 80 feet long, (1216 sq ft)  We have it homesteaded on our wooded
1 1/4 acre of land, in the Northwest Panhandle of Florida. Our landscape here is wooded, with some grass, but mostly sandy yard (see the previous post to see a few photos of our porches and a snippet of our yard).... we are not on the coast, but are a thirty mile drive to the beaches.
