Living Room Decor Late Summer August 2022 and Some Summer Junkin' Finds

 I took a few photos of some of my home decor in my living room... here's how I have things decorated this late summer August 2022...and some of my junkin' finds from yard sales and thrifting this summer too...

This summer I've found so many  goodies while out junkin'... including these vintage china pieces. They were at a yard sale for $10, there were three pieces including a gravy boat... I'm using it to display small books in the sitting room ...

We have brown bunnies in our yard year round around here, and we love to look for them and watch them out there... so I was thrilled when I found the cute bunny pillow for half price at the thrift store, making it only $1.49...

The Thomas Kinkade lighted cottage was a thrift store find that I got for $7.50, it was half off...and the little tiny brass lamp was a $1.50 yard sale find and the shade was .89 cents at a vendor mall...

 

I had been on the hunt for vintage books with flowers, birds and butterflies and was happy to find several for .50 - $1.00 and a couple of newer bird books and cookbooks that were free...I  displayed them in the sitting room..

I've had the old suitcases for several years, they were yard sale finds too...they've been great to use for storage of small seasonal items and are all the same size, so they easily stack to save space....

 I like collecting pretty carved old frames for display, decorating,  and for holding art prints even! The carved wood gold gilt frame was only $3 at a monthly storage unit warehouse sale...I displayed it on the sitting room shelves in front of my other old frame. 

That's how things are looking late summer. I am so looking forward to fall season and some cooler days, but I'll be waiting until probably late September or the beginning of October to bring out the autumn home decor around here. We shall see. We do still have a lot of summertime left in our area. It stays very warm until usually mid October or so. We'll be able to go to the beach and the creek for a while still around here.

New Pergo LVP Flooring, Kitchen August 2022, Before and After Kitchen Redo

My husband finished our kitchen floors this month, so I took some pictures today of everything ...I added some before pictures at the end...

The flooring is Pergo Duracraft Luxury Vinyl Plank, and is called Jameson Ridge Pine 

He did the kitchen redo himself, he painted cabinets, put up beadboard behind the stove and around the island bar, painted and installed trim, wired the range vent above the stove, installed a new sink, installed new countertops, and also made and painted the cottage style shelf that's above the mirrors with a 4x6 board and corbels from Lowe's...we already had the light fixtures, but he installed them as also...

 Below are a few Before photos from over the years. 

This is a 16 x 80, 1997 Oakwood brand single wide mobile home.... we are the original owners, so it's been through a lot of changes over the years...

Above is photo with the original walls, floors, and forest green countertops....

Later...with vinyl tile flooring and wood panel wainscot

Then...we painted the wainscoting white, got new oak cabinets from Lowe's, to replace white manufactured home cabinets, and light grey green countertops...

Then...there was the stone sheet vinyl flooring and the oak cabinets that got white paint...

Another before photo, with the stone sheet vinyl, (that I really did like, because it reminded me of an English cottage, but it was clashing with the new countertops)...

 And... here's another look at the new flooring.

We really like how things turned out in here. I'm so thankful to my hard working sweet husband for all he did to make my "vintage cottage old farmhouse kitchen" dreams come true.

This diy project cost a total of around $5,200. That's with my husband doing the work himself. The appliances were around $2200, countertops were around $1000, $800 for supplies and paint for cabinets ect, and $1200 for the flooring and trim.

End of July 2022 Yard Photos

I decided to take a few photos of the yard this very hot end of July 2022...

The crepe myrtle in the woods bloomed a few flowers...

Unfortunately, we lost an oak tree (left of photo), this year that will need to be cut down when the weather cools down...

The morning glories bloomed that I planted from seeds...

We lost our largest pine tree to lightening this summer...

Only about 3 zinnias that I planted from seeds, survived this time....but they are beautiful...

The spider plant has made babies, that I can soon plant in pots and share with family....

and the asparagus fern bloomed some surprise  pretty tiny white flowers...

A walk about the yard led me to some delightful surprises...pretty wild trailing flowers...

and little tiny yellow wild daisies

And a plump mushroom nestled comfortably in the woods. The wild flowers and mushroom needed no care from me, but filled my heart with delight...as I know God would have them to do. A reminder from the creator that He takes care of them, and me, and you!
